Why Ember TV

Finding a good movie shouldn’t feel like spiritual warfare.

Other services hand you thousands of titles and leave the filtering to you. Ember TV does the discernment first, so movie night can just be movie night.

This isn’t censorship. It’s discernment.

Our story

A living room without the landmines.

Ember TV was built by Catholics for families tired of the remote-control spiritual warfare that comes with every movie night.

We gather the very best in faith and family film in one place, where faith is never an afterthought and what you watch is never a compromise.

A note from our founder

Every film chosen on purpose.

  • Picked by people, not an algorithm, and never at odds with the values you’re raising your family on.
  • Every film shows its rating and a plain description, so you know before you press play.
  • No subscription. Rent a film for 48 hours and watch on the web, Apple TV, Roku or Fire TV, or cast it to your TV.

Stop fighting the algorithm. Start serving the audience.

On the big subscription services, a faith-driven film disappears into the “general interest” pile. On Ember TV it’s the main event, rented on purpose by families who trust what we carry.

A note from our founder

The stories we invite into our homes matter.

Ember TV was created for those who believe in the power of good storytelling, and in the importance of protecting the home from distasteful and morally objectionable content.

At our core, we’re Catholic, and our faith will always inform our values and our approach to film in the home. Ember TV welcomes anyone looking for a more thoughtful, safer way to watch movies.

Thank you for letting us serve you. It’s a privilege we don’t take lightly.

Good questions.

The short answers. Read the full FAQ

What makes Ember TV different?

Intentional curation. Every film is chosen by people, not an algorithm, who believe discernment matters. You won’t find content that mocks faith, celebrates immorality or undermines the values families care about. We’re Catholic at our core, and everyone looking for a more thoughtful way to watch is welcome.

Do I need a subscription?

No. Creating an account is free, and you pay only for the films you rent. There is nothing to cancel.

How long do I have to watch a film?

Each rental gives you 48 hours of unlimited viewing, starting when your payment goes through. Watch it as many times as you like in that window. When it ends, access expires on its own, and you can rent the film again whenever you want.

Where can I watch?

In any modern web browser, and in the Ember TV apps for Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. You can also start a film on your phone, tablet or laptop and cast or AirPlay it to your smart TV. Your rentals follow your account, so you can start on one screen and finish on another.

Can I show a film to my parish or school?

Yes, with a public screening license. It covers one showing on the date you choose, priced by audience size. Groups larger than our biggest tier can request a custom quote.
